What made us dream of The Bombay Project?
Shuttling back and forth between Toronto and Bombay, We found ourselves lugging back increasing amount of clothing and art from India; Something had changed in India as if we had rediscovered our design identity and combined with our willingness to do right by local artisans that were struggling to make a living with the advent of fast fashion. It was a happy oasis where brands were encouraging us to find a favorite pair of white shirt that we would wear for half a decade or a piece of luggage that would give me us company for many years to come on our adventures through the world. It was as if things weren't meant to be bought but rather they were meant to be loved almost developing a silly sense of attachment.
The Bombay Project is simply an attempt to get more of the world acquainted with these brands, and give people the chance to find something they can develop the same sense of silly attachment too and they don't have to feel guilty about it because the artisans that worked on the piece of clothing or bag were compensated fairly. Maybe just maybe this can save them a trip to their favorite fast fashion retailer and the world can be a better place one shirt or dress at a time.
